A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 1:00 pm at First Christian Church in Boonville, MO.
Mary was born on March 20, 1998 in St. Joseph, MO to parents Ronald and Cheri Schmitz.
She is survived by her mother Cheri Elizabeth Schmitz, father Ronald Kenneth Schmitz, sister Addie Irene Schmitz, grandmother Addie Jean Sanchez, grandfather Ray R. Sanchez, uncle Ken (Amy) McWade, uncle Scott McWade, great-aunt Grace (Darrell) Berlin, great-aunt Peggy (Chico) Diaz, great-aunt Barb (R.L.) Owen, aunt Virginia Krugloff, uncle Gerald (Sharon) Schmitz, aunt Roberta Meyer, aunt Bernetta Griffin, aunt Marlene (Gene) Hatcher, numerous cousins and hundreds of friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Mary Katherine Owen, maternal grandfather, Kenneth W. McWade, maternal great-grandparents, James E. (Grace) Smith, Jr., paternal grandparents, Anthony J. (Marie) Schmitz, and paternal aunts and uncles: Alice Barnes, Marilyn and Gary Hurst, Art Meyer, and Jim Griffin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Boonville Animal Shelter, 401 Main St. Boonville, MO 65233, in memory of Mary K. Schmitz.
“Mary blew into this world large (ten pounds) and in charge. She was the baby of our family. She spoke early and often. The complete sentences that came out of her tiny little mouth drew the gazes and comments of strangers. Hard as we might try, she ruled our roost.
Throughout her short life she made friends wide and far. She was a defender of the underdog. Mary loved hard, protected fiercely, and lived her life in abundance.
Mary made us four. She will forever hold that place in our hearts. ”
