Barbara Louise Herder

A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Thacher Funeral Home, Boonville, Missouri. Visitation will start one hour prior at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, north of New Franklin, Missouri.

Barbara was born on September 5, 1940, the daughter of Ernest and Edith (Hendrix) O’Dell and the sister of Lee. All three preceded her in death.

She was married to Bill Herder on September 1, 1961. Their marriage was a story-book romance. She moved with Bill across the USA as he built electrical power plants and other facilities. Regardless of the location or the living conditions she was content when she was with the man she loved. They had been married over 54 years.

Barbara and Bill were blessed with two children and five grandchildren. Their son, Bill III with wife, Debbie blessed them with three grandchildren; Mariah, Nicole and Olivia. Their daughter, Rebecca with husband, Salil, blessed them with two grandchildren; Joanna and Laura.

Barbara had worked for the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Missouri Conservation Department, as a Real Estate agent and performed secretarial work as a volunteer for churches in different cities. She always felt that the most important job in her life was raising her children. She was a member of the DAR. She professed faith in Christ, her Savior and was a member of the Baptist Church.

A beautiful, kind friend and wife has left us. A precious person who made the world a little better place to live.
