William Guy Spain, 27, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born March 29, 1983 to Bill and Jeanice Johnson Spain. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Booneville, attended Gaston Baptist Church, and was a farmer. He was a 2001 graduate of Booneville High School where he played on the 1999 State Champion Baseball team. He loved the outdoors where his passion was hunting, fishing, and running his dogs. He enjoyed working in the field with his father and grandfather on the family farm.
Funeral Services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Gaston Baptist Church with Bro. Matt Brown officiating. Burial will be in Osborne Creek Cemetery.
He is survived by his parents, Bill and Teri Spain, and Jeanice and Mitchell Pounders; his grandparents, Elton and Jewel Johnson, Billy Orvil and Marie Spain; step-grandparents, Edith Kendrick, Roy C. and Joyce Pounders; two sisters and their husbands, Jennifer and Mark Doleac, Jessica and Justin Taylor; stepsister, Beth Hughes and husband Joey; stepbrother, J.P. Pounders and wife Leslie.
He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Guy and Doris Robertson, Orvill and Quay Spain; uncle, David Spain; step-grandfather, George Kendrick.
Pallbearers will be Daniel King, Jerod Saylors, Bryce Lott, Justin Tapp, Casey Harber and Blake Spain. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Young, Mitchell Davis, Eric Davis and B.J. Smith.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday and until noon Friday at McMillan Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial made to the National Wildlife Federation, 11100 Wildlife Center Drive, Reston, VA 20190.
