Peggy Jean Bates

Peggy Jean Allen Bates, 85, passed away at the Tishomingo Manor in Iuka, MS on February 3, 2024. She was born in Prentiss County MS on October 9, 1938, to Gene and Lillian Allen. She was a member of Tuscumbia Baptist Church. She enjoyed anything outdoors, vacationing, and most of all, her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.

A Celebration of Life will be at 3:00 P.M. Monday, February 5, 2024, at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Ben Parman officiating. Burial will be in Tuscumbia Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamelia Johnson; her sister, Anita Johnson; her sister-in-law, Jane Allen; her grandson, Jeffery Johnson (Brooke); her granddaughter, Jessica Livingston (Richey); her four great-granddaughters, Carlee Johnson, Ella Johnson, Maeleigh Livingston, and Jeanie Franklin Livingston; her two bonus great-grandchildren, Rylan Stewart and Ansley Palmertree; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Carl Franklin Bates; her son, Carl Franklin Bates, Jr.; her parents; and her brother, Joe Allen.

Pallbearers are David Bates, Donnie Bates, Eddie Allen, Ralph Williams, Jarett Johnson, and Richey Livingston.

A special thank you to Tishomingo Manor and the B wing staff for the excellent care of my precious mother. They are angels on earth. She loved each one.
