Johnny Wendell Wright, 64, of Booneville, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at North Mississippi Medical Center - Hospice. He was born December 13, 1949 to V. Horace and Lowenstein Bryant Wright. He graduated from Booneville High School in 1967, and from NEMCC with an associate degree in industrial electricity, air conditioning and refrigeration. He owned and operated Wright’s Refrigeration & A/C for 20 years; owned and operated Lindsey’s Laundromat from 1978 – 1990; and taught heating/AC/and refrigeration technology at NEMCC for 14 years. He attended Martin Hill Free Will Baptist Church. He entered the US Navy in 1968 and served 4 years receiving the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal and was honorably discharged in 1972 as an EM2 (Electrician Mate).
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday, November 7, 2014 at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Jason Pilcher, Bro. Rodney Brazil, and Minister Don Green officiating. Burial will be in the New Lebanon Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Thena Brooks Wright; one daughter, Valerie (Jason) Pilcher of New Albany; mother, Lowenstein (Harold) Wright Graves; three grandchildren, Mattie, Aaron, and Rebekah Pilcher; one sister, Betty (Don) Green; three nieces; three great nephews; and two great nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, V. Horace Wright; two brothers, Horace Edwin Wright and Gary Wright; and grandparents, George Henry & Margaret E. Bryant and Dewey & Lillian McCoy Wright.
Visitation will be 5-8 pm Thursday, November 6, 2014 and until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
