James Howard Smart, 97, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Longwood Community Living Center in Booneville. He was born September 1, 1915, to William Henry and Annie Lou Michael Smart. He was a retired inspector with the Mississippi Department of Transportation. He was a member of Jumpertown United Methodist Church. He enjoyed collecting Mustangs.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 21, 2013, McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Greg Smart, Bro. Joshua Smart and Bro. Jason Franklin officiating. Burial will be in Jumpertown Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Ona Mae Huddleston Smart; one daughter, Sarah (Buddy) Glover of Wheeler; three sons, Hansel (Marjorie) Smart of Jumpertown, James Dennis (Kathy) Smart of Tyrone, GA and Freddy Thomas (Carolyn) Smart of Conyers, GA; six grandchildren, Greg (Deborah) Smart, Teresa Olive, Vicky Massey, Benjamin Smart, Brent Smart and Derek Smart; and two, great-grandsons, Matthew Smart and Joshua Smart.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Loree Padgett Smart; his parents; one sister, Charlene Barker and one brother, Clifford Smart.
Pallbearers are Bobby Smart, Billy Smart, Gifford Smart, Jerry Smart, Brent Smart and Derek Smart.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Thursday and until service time Friday at the funeral home.
