Warren Gale Armstrong, 72, of the Pisgah Community passed from this world on Sunday, September 16, 2018. He was born on November 7, 1945, to Warren and Lema Woodruff Armstrong of Jacinto. He was affectionately known to his family as “Paw” and his long life was nothing short of a miracle. He was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at an early age and managed to survive this deadly disease for longer than physicians ever predicted. The joy of his life was his family. He followed them to ballgames and recitals; and road trips with his children and grandchildren were what he looked forward to the most. It took him to beaches, mountains, cruises and even the Southern most tip of the United States.
Gale always had a smile for those around him. He loved to shop, and he and his wife, Ann, would travel near and far for a good discount or thrift store. Hardly ever an occasion passed that he didn’t bring home a new pair of shoes or a new addition to his large knife collection. A natural tinkerer, he built birdhouses and chicken coops and worked on lost causes like worn out weed eaters, lawn mowers, and vacuum cleaners. He was a faithful member of North Rienzi Church of Christ and often shared with his church family from his garden or his plentiful collection of chicken eggs. He was also a member of the Thrasher Class of 1965.
A celebration of life service will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at McMillan Funeral Home with Minister Wade Davis and Minister Donald Green officiating. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Ann Palmer Armstrong of Pisgah; daughters, Kim Montgomery (Keith) and Kristy White (Jason) of Pisgah; grandsons, Warren and Tate Perry and Jude and Samuel White, all of Pisgah; granddaughter, Ruby Kate White of Pisgah; honorary granddaughter, Savanna Trimble of Thrasher; brothers-in-law, Tommy Palmer (Sherry) and Mike Palmer of Pisgah; and nieces and nephews, Lane Palmer, Gay Willard, Paula Willis and Russell Armstrong.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Warner and Katherine Palmer; siblings, Nelda Grace Armstrong, Dorothy Armstrong, Bobby and Doris Armstrong, and Dillard and Mary Armstrong.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Palmer, Mike Palmer, Warren Perry, Tate Perry, Samuel White and Jude White.
