Dempsey Murphy

Matthew Dempsey Murphy, 89, passed away Friday December 12, 2014, at his home in Booneville after an extended illness. He was born December 10, 1925, to Arthur Aubry and Martha Jane Cox Murphy. He retired after 22 years from Mead Container in Memphis where he worked as a print machine operator. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Sunday, December 14, 2014, at McMillan Funeral Home with Mr. Lonnie Murphy and Mr. Justin Dodson speaking. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mayme Merrill Murphy; two daughters, Donna Murphy (Melvin) Dodson of Dothan , AL and Cindy Murphy (Bryan) Hulse of Franklin, TN; one sister, Elsie Wootten of Jackson, MS; one brother, Gene T. Murphy of Booneville; three grandchildren, Melanee (Chris) Erwin, Justin (Amanda) Dodson and Ricky (Brittany) Dodson; seven great-grandchildren, Mollie Erwin, Miller Erwin, Lillie Grace Erwin, Cullen Erwin, Mattie Dodson, Landon Dodson and Collier Dodson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters; and four brothers.

Pallbearers are Justin Dodson, Ricky Dodson, Chris Erwin, Bryan Hulse, Mel Dodson, Lonnie Murphy and Ricky Murphy.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
