Bobby Henry Smart, 76, passed from this life to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth. He was born following his twin Billy Joe on October 30, 1940, to Henry Clifford and Ruby Green Smart. He grew up in the Jumpertown Commuity and never moved away from the family farm. After graduating from JHS in 1959, he was the co-owner with his brother, Gilford, of Smart’s Dairy and later, he owned Smart Brothers Trucking. He married the love of his life, Sharon Michael on August 21, 1964.
Bobby was instrumental in the incorporation of the town of Jumpertown and had the distinction of being the first Mayor. He was a dedicated member of Concord Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon.
Bobby was a common man and the greatest pleasures in life were the ordinary moments he shared with his beloved family and friends. He enjoyed nothing more than having gravy and biscuits with his brothers and sisters or talking “trucks and tractors” with his good buddies. He unashamedly showed his love by word and deed for his Lord, his wife, and his family. He was never too busy to say “I love you.”
A celebration of life service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 4, 2017, at McMillan Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Walker, Bro. J.C. Prather and Bro. Trey Lambert officiating. Burial will be in Jumpertown Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Smart; three brothers, Billy (Patsy) Smart of Booneville, Gilford (Jane) Smart and Jerry (Donna) Smart, both of Jumpertown; four sisters, Martha (J.C.) Prather of Starkville, Mary Sue (Jacky) Perrigo, Lynn (Freddie) Corbin, both of Rienzi and Anita(Tommy) Turner of Booneville; four step-sister-in-laws, Earline (Wayne) Benefield of Ripley, Adeane (Lee) Marshall of Jumpertown, Lelila (Buford) Hopper of Kossuth and Peggy Brown of Ripley; He also leaves to cherish his memory, a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, church family and former employees.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Virginia Newby; father-in-law, Bonard Michael; step-father-in-law, Mutt Newby; and nephew Bric Turner.
