Jane LaPierre passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the age of 79. She was a beloved mother, devoted sister, proud grandmother, and cherished friend whose kindness and resilience touched all who knew her.
Jane was the loving mother of Robin Trovato and the late Richard Trovato of Bonita Springs, FL, and Nantucket, MA; William Scanlon and his wife Theresa of Edgewater, FL and Framingham, MA; Michael LaPierre of Palm Coast, FL and Jonathan LaPierre and his wife Megann of Framingham, MA. She was a dear big sister to Charles MacLean of Framingham, MA; Maureen Dame of Natick, MA; and John MacLean of Holliston, MA.
She took immense pride in her role as a grandmother to Craig Scanlon (Jessica), Stephanie McMonigle (Kyle), Kelise Scanlon, Kendall Trovato, Jessica Stolle (Jordan), Brendan Trovato, Matt Trovato (Kara), Rachael Brooks (Austin), JJ LaPierre, Harriet LaPierre, and Hazel LaPierre, as well as a loving great-grandmother to 16 wonderful great-grandchildren. Jane was also a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Born in Portland, ME, on June 13, 1945, Jane was the daughter of the late Frances (Sumner) MacLean and the late Duncan MacLean. She was raised in Woburn, MA, and attended Woburn High School before settling in Bellingham, MA, where she lovingly raised her family. In her later years, she found joy in the warmth of Florida and it’s beaches, spending time in New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater and Bonita Springs.
Jane earned a degree from Daytona Community College and built a career in retail and insurance sales, where her warmth and charm shone through. She was a bright light who always saw the goodness in people, inspiring those around her with her unwavering positivity and kindness. A fierce advocate for the underdog, she uplifted those in need, offering her unwavering support and encouragement. She had a deep love for children, and beyond raising her own, she nurtured and cared for many others who needed a guiding hand.
Her strength and tenacity were unmatched, especially in recent years, as she faced life’s challenges with grace and resilience. Her love, laughter, and generosity will be forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held at a later date in Massachusetts. Those who wish to honor her memory may consider a donation to Youth Haven, 5867 Whitaker Road, Naples, FL 34112, an organization dedicated to providing home, hope, and healing to abused and neglected children and teens in Southwest Florida.
