Gina or Gie, as she was often referred to by her closest friends and family, was born on October 18, 1955 in Manila (San Juan), Philippines to Leonardo and Flora Jose. She was the eldest of four siblings to include Bernadette “Odette”, Virgilio “Bong”, and Belma “Velma”. She grew up in Manila and studied at Our Lady of Loreto and completed her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance at Stella Maris College.
As a young adult, she was a teller at International Bank where she excelled. Her performance guided her to be a teller supervisor at Citi Bank afterward. It was not long until her cousin, Dan, responded to Al’s request for a pen pal while both were aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk.
Virginia and Al were married on August 7, 1987 in New York City and had one child. Together, they traveled the world and moved frequently due to the U.S. Navy. She enjoyed swimming, gardening, food, and knitting. She loved to read and loved her pets more.
Virginia will be missed by all. She was a loving wife, caring mother, big sister, and trusted friend. She has touched many lives, and the world will never be the same without her.
