Mr. Toan was born on February 23, 1928, in Hà Nội, Vietnam, to Mr. Nguyen Van Phat and Mrs. Dinh Thi Vien, the youngest of two children. In 1945, Mr. Toan married Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc in Hà Nội, Vietnam.
He graduated from college and joined the Airforce Intelligence, serving in two wars from 1946-1975 as an Intelligence Officer. In 1954, after Vietnam regained its independence from the French, he immigrated to South Vietnam (Saigon) fleeing from the communist regime and joined the South Vietnam Airforce Intelligence Group, where he served his remaining Officer term, partaking in the anti-communist efforts until the end of the Vietnam War (1975). He received training at Quan Bao Cay Mai and then sent on assignment by the South Vietnamese Airforce to receive specialized Intelligence training at Okinawa, Japan, US, and the Philippines. After the communist seized control of South Vietnam, Mr. Toan spent time in the re-education camp and released. In 1981, he immigrated to the United States, (Chula Vista, CA), where he resided until his passing.
He enjoyed and loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. To all that knew him, he had a sweet tooth especially for sodas (Orange, Pepsi and Coke), cake/ice cream and enjoyed having any meals (steak – favorite) that involved him being surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Toan is survived by his (13) children, (25) grandchildren and (11) great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother (Thuc Van Nguyen), two twin daughters (Nguyen Thi Tuat, Nguyen Thi Quynh Nga) and grandson (Nguyen Trung Hien (Joey)).
