TJ was born September 27, 1999, in San Diego, CA. He had a radiant smile that could brighten
up even the cloudiest day. He was a sweet and affectionate individual who was known for his
compassionate heart. Fittingly, TJ loved superheroes. Spiderman was his favorite character. As a
child, he would wear superhero costumes everywhere he went, including the mall and
restaurants. Although Spiderman held a special place in his heart, nothing could ever compare to
the love TJ had for his little brother, Maurice, his mother, Marcia, and basketball. He loved
sports, and he was a natural when he began playing basketball at only 3 years old. Although TJ
was right-handed, he would always shoot with his left hand. He played basketball for High-Tech-
High Middle School, and Central Union High School, where he played on a travel basketball
team, “Cali Krew” for several years. TJ graduated from Central Union High School in 2017.
TJ had a passion for helping others and believed that there was good in everyone regardless of
who they were. TJ worked for Imperial County Behavioral Health and Community Care Center.
He found solace and purpose in volunteering with the homeless. TJ was a man of faith and
carried an orange Bible with him everywhere he went. He used his faith to comfort others, and
he read scripture to his late grandmother in her hospital bed before she passed away.
TJ will live on through his legacy of love and service. He is survived by his mother, Marcia L.
Robinson of San Diego, CA; father Thomas E. Smith of El Centro, CA; brother Maurice D.
Wiley and his Father Maurice Wiley, of San Diego, CA; and grandmother and grandfather,
Leticia and Kenneth Taylor of El Centro, CA. He was preceded in death by his grandmother,
Margaret Robinson, and his grandfather, Thomas M. Smith.
Viewing and Visitation for Thomas will be held Monday, July 26, 2021 at 10:30 AM and Services at 11:30am at Glen Abbey Memorial Park and Mortuary, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902.
