Chula Vista
Stella was born in Hatteres, North Carolina to Theodore and Rida (Austin) Oneal.
One of four children, two sisters and a brother who have all preceded her in passing.
Her early life was spent in the Hatteras area where she attended school through high school. There she met her husband to be, William Travis Foley, (known as Foley to most, deceased 1976) a sailor stationed nearby.
They were married in 1936 and had four children, William Jr. (deceased 2002), Richard of San Diego, Michael of Las Vegas and Theodore ( Tedd ) of San Diego.
As a Navy wife and family, there was a reasonable amount of moving around but, the bulk of her life was spent in the San Diego area (65 to 70 years). As a military wife the burden and joy of raising four boys fell on her as Dad spent roughly half his 21 Navy years at sea and in the air. As one of the boys I can easily say she did a great job. Of course there was always " wait till your Father gets home" to keep us in line.
After Dad's Retirement in1950 normal family life set in. She was involved in the VFW, PTA, Civil Air Patrol, Cub Scouts, Boy scouts and an avid bowler with many awards.
Stella is survived by her remaining three sons, 16 grandchildren, 30+ great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.(Sorry I've lost count).
She will be greatly missed and always remembered by her family and those who knew her. One of the greatest memories will be her favorite comment to the family at gatherings "You people are all crazy"
