Santos “Joe” Moreno Discar, Jr. entered into glory April 4, 2023 at his home in Chula Vista, California. He was the son of Sanny and Blanca (Sangalang) Discar. He was born on August 10, 1963 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
He met the love of his life, Lisa, at Battle of the Bands—a marching band competition held at Southwestern College—when he was 17 years old. He entered the army after high school graduation at 18 years old. Joe married Lisa in a private ceremony on October 10, 1981, with a large wedding celebration with friends and family on May 8, 1982.
Joe was a brilliant computer engineer. He graduated from Bonita Vista High School, earned his B.S. in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix, and co-founded Syzygy Technologies.
Joe was passionate about his hobbies. He loved dazzling children with magic tricks and playing games with his older kids and their spouses such as Borderlands, Oblivion, The Last of Us, Destiny, and EverQuest. He loved immersing himself in TV series like The Big Bang Theory, Scrubs, X-Files, and Yellowstone. His mango beef ribs and roast beef were loved, requested, and devoured every time he cooked them. He loved model rockets, skiing, biking, camping, archery, shooting, and geocaching.
He loved playing piano and ukulele. He made friends out of strangers everywhere he went by playing his ukulele. He proudly left behind beautiful songs he wrote for each of his beloved grandkids.
Joe will be lovingly remembered and missed by family and friends with every glass of red wine or bite of decadent steak, fois gras, or dessert.
Joe is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lisa; their 5 children and 6 grandchildren: Jonathan (wife Carrie and sons Daren and Ethan), Joanna (husband Andy and children Andrew and Kinsley), Jenevieve (husband Ben), Jennifer (husband Ben and daughters Hudson and Cleo), and Joshua; his siblings Sonny (wife Melinda), Debbie (husband Burt), and Didi (husband Paul); and his mother, Blanca. He was preceded in death by his father, Sanny.
