Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Roger William Holland was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Roger will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Roger was born on January 2, 1938 to John Benjamin Holland and Helen Barbara Phillips. Roger was born in Montpelier, Vermont and raised in San Diego, California. He has 2 sisters Patricia Terrel and Judy Marchenke and 1 brother Stewart Holland.
A typical teenager, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood, Roger graduated from Hoover High School, in San Diego, California.
Roger exchanged wedding vows with Mary Madrid on January 18, 1959 at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Chula Vista, California. Empathic and loyal Roger was committed to making his new family happy.
While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately the same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Roger was blessed with 2 children, Roger William Holland, Jr and Roxanne Marie Holland. Roger did his best to fulfill his children’s needs, raising them in a positive and nurturing environment.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately Roger
enjoyed what he did for a living. Roger worked in the Construction Industry for 45 years as a truck driver-Mason Tender. Showing strong work ethics, he worked diligently and did his best to succeed.
Roger enjoyed his leisure time by camping and collecting Eagles.
Roger passed away April 30th, 2016 at Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa, California. Roger is survived by his wife Mary Holland, his son Roger Holland, Jr and Roxanne Holland his daughter as well as his grandchildren Sarah, Joshua Holland, his sisters Patricia Terrel and Judy Marchenke, his brother Stewart Holland. He leaves many other family members and friends to cherish his memory.
Services for Roger William Holland were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Abbey’s Little Chapel of the Roses.
Roger was laid to rest in Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California on May 11, 2016.
Simply stated, Roger was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. He leaves behind the legacy of a loving family, life-long friendships and many cherished memories.
