On January 16, 1941, in Gallup New Mexico, GOD gave Sherill and Crystal a healthy son that they named ROBERT W. WAKEFIELD, since then GALLUP was never the same.
ROBERT known to his hometown and relatives as “GEORGE” enjoyed among other things, hunting, bikes and fishing, at the age of 17 he wanted more excitement and decided to join the United States Navy. From this day he was known as “BOB” As a Navy “BOB” has gone to many countries, including the Philippines where he met FLORDELIZA “Dellie” USON.
BOB and DELLIE civilly wed in the Philippines on DECEMBER 16, 1961. BOB and DELLIE lived the typical military life wherein they resided in many countries as a part of BOB’s Navy career.
On December 1970, BOB and DELLIE finally found a home in San Diego, where they shared laughter, care, and especially love up to this day.
After 20 years of service, Chief Petty Officer ROBERT “BOB” WAKEFIELD went back to a civilian life. He taught, did some office job but most of all enjoyed what he loves doing most, being a “MECHANIC”
The year 1999 is a very unfortunate year for BOB, he suffered a stroke and a cancer was taken out under his tongue but he continued to fight on. Seeking GOD’s blessings they decided to have a church wedding. ROBERT and FLORDELIZA WAKEFIELD were pronounced Husband and Wife for the second time on July 5, 2003.
After the stroke he was never the same but his heart and spirit stayed strong. On SEPTEMBER 4, 2013 at around 12:30 pm GOD opened his door to ROBERT W. WAKEFIELD and welcomed him in Heaven.
Survivors are very thankful to share BOB’s colorful life include, his sisters Velva and Cleo, friends, other relatives, neighbors, and especially DELLIE his loving wife.
Both his parents, his brother Warren and sister Nedra, preceded BOB in death.
