Funeral Services will be held at 10am for viewing and funeral mass at 11am all at St. Pius Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 23rd. The burial service will follow at 12:30 at Glen Abbey Cemetery in Bonita.
Robert, better known to most as “Bob” was born in Carbondale, Illinois to Jetta and Harvey McAnelly. Raised most of his life in Marion, Illinois. At the young age of seventeen, he enlisted in the Navy spending 13 years on aircraft carriers and that last 13 years training in the law enforcement rate of Master-At-Arms. He married on November 11, 1963 to Geraldine Vestri who he met while stationed at Quonset Point, Rhode Island. On November 11, 2023 they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. During those years they lived in Puerto Rico where his two sons were born, then a tour in Maryland, and finally a tour on the west coast in San Diego where he and his family resided for 54 years except for a two year tour in the Philippines.
Bob has many accomplishments; Achieving Master-Chief in the Navy, serving 10 years on the Coronado Volunteer Police Department in the rank of Sergeant, after Navy retirement, working for 12 years as Senior Investigator for General Dynamics, and lastly his own PI business for 5 years, Cross-Cut Investigations.
Bob is survived by his wife, Gerry, and two sons, Robert Jr. and Mark. One grandson, Rylan, and great-granddaughter, Paisley Ann.
