Robert “Bob” Honn, 80, passed away peacefully in the hospital with his loving family present. Bob was born on Halloween day 1941 in Mattoon, Illinois, and moved with the family to San Diego, CA, at age 5. Bob graduated from Mt. Miguel High School; received an AA degree from San Diego City College; and attended Cal-Poly at San Luis Obispo receiving a degree in architectural drafting. Bob was a draftsman for 20 years then became interested in real estate investments at which he excelled. Bob enlisted in the Army National Guard, trained at Fort Ord, CA; and served during the Watts Riots-Los Angeles in 1965.
Bob was a world traveler, enjoying many cruises over the years. He was an avid game player (Yahtzee, Oh Heck, Skip-O, Monopoly and others). Bob loved scary movies, haunted houses, extreme rollercoasters and thrill rides. A favorite place was Knott’s Berry Farm and favorite desert was pumpkin pie.
Bob was a life-long bachelor but maintained a close relationship with his family and many friends, enjoying holidays, birthdays, etc. with his sister, niece, nephew, and their children/grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his sister, Nancy Ford, of Ramona, CA; niece, Terry Holmes and husband, Scott, of Valley Center, CA; great-nieces, Heather & Haley Holmes; grand-niece & nephew, Alana and Jonathan of Valley Center; his nephew, Chuck’s children, Christopher, Courtney, and Caleb Ford of Iowa; and many long-time friends and associates.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, June and Bob C. Honn; nephew, Charles Ford; and foster sister, Norma Coss.
