Rene Alexander Alcasid was born on March 29th, 1955 in the Philippines. Rene passed away on April 13th, 2024 in the comfort of his wife and son. Rene spent his childhood years in Calamba, Laguna where he attended elementary and high school. After high school, he moved to Manila to study to become an X-Ray technician at Marian College, a pioneer school for X-Ray technicians. After graduation, he started working and got a job in Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines.
Rene migrated to the US on May 16, 1978 at the age of 23. He worked a few odd jobs then decided to go back to school again as an X-Ray technician. He graduated from DePaul University in Illinois with highest honors. He worked at Masonic General Hospital in Chicago.
Rene was a fan of Chicago sports teams – Cubs for baseball, Bulls for basketball, Bears for football. He loves to go fishing, as well as traveling and dancing with the same group of friends. He was the life of the party. He would do anything for a laugh and always cracked jokes. Anyone that knew him knew that he had such a big heart. He’d give anything even if it wasn’t his to give. He was a people person.
Rene married Susan in 1986 and went on to have a son, Alex. Rene and Susan decided to move to California after marriage and found a job in San Diego. He had worked at Kaiser, Paradise Valley Hospital, Sharp Memorial Hospital, and Sharp Rees Stealy. He worked at Sharp Healthcare for 35 years until retirement. He was survived by his loving family: his wife Susan and his son Alex, his step-mother Linda, his sisters Leah, Liza, Grace and Susie, and their families. He lived a full life filled with beautiful memories and will be missed by all.
