Ramon “Ray” Quiñones was born in San Diego CA on September 9, 1943. His parents were Trinidad Quiñones from Chihuahua, MX & Nellie Quiñones from Tucson, AZ. He attended Our Lady of Angeles Catholic School, Saint Augustine High School and graduated from Sweetwater High School. After High School he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. He is survived by his sister Katy Pimentel, brother in-law Gilbert Pimentel 2 nieces, 2 nephews, 1 great nephew & 2 great-great nieces and 1 great-great nephew. Ramon was a devote Catholic who attended Mass every Sunday. He was an usher at St. Rose of Lima and was a regular parishioner the past year and a half at Our Lady of Guadalupe.
He worked for Rohr, Inc for 50 years. He was an avid fisherman who loved to take fishing trips to Mexico with his buddies. He was one of the smartest people around. He knew a little bit about everything. While he was recuperating from foot surgery when he was a young man he took up macramé & woodwork. He made several pieces for his family and friends. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t make or fix.
He was a mischievous little boy who loved to go on adventures all over San Diego. He would come home with his pockets filled with bugs, insects and other small crawling animals. He was the 1940’s version of “Dennis the Menace”. He was a very happy, positive and loving little boy and he stayed the same his entire life. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his family and friends. His heart was so good & pure and he will be missed by everyone who knew him. Ramon was survived by his beloved wife, Ella Quinones, with whom he shared 30 wonderful years.
