Orlando Bautista was born on May 1, 1937 to Lucila Toledo and Enrique Bautista. He lived in Tabon, Kawit, Cavite with his younger sister, Sherlita. Tragically, their father died when Orlando was only two years old and his mother followed four years later, leaving the siblings orphaned at such a young age. Their grandfather, Fermin Toledo, whom they called Lolo Imen, kindly took them under his care. While living in their humble hut, Orlando learned some household skills not only to contribute to the family, but also to help generate some income. He assisted his Auntie Mameng in sewing and Lolo Kanor by washing airline linens by the river. Orlando respectfully performed his duties, but he was not content. He bought a pig to raise and sell for profit and discovered his first success in business.
Orlando attended public schools in the Philippines, including Aguinaldo Elementary School and Tirona High School. He didn't have much guidance in his studies, so when the opportunity came, he joined the U.S. Navy. The military allowed Orlando to enjoy greater income, but more than that, he felt more confident in being able to offer a future to a girl whom he admired since childhood. On March 18, 1962, Orlando exchanged vows with Lucita Ronquillo at St. Mary Magdalene Church and after ten years of marriage, enjoyed their most awaited daughter, Dulce, and son, Rico.
Orlando was a Petty Officer 2nd Class in The United States Navy. He was as a Business Owner. He worked at San Diego State University and became “Employee of the Month." He loved singing, ballroom dancing, bowling and cooking.
