The family moved to Chula Vista in 1949 where Mike attended elementary, junior high and high school. He graduated from Hilton High School in 1963 where he honed his tennis skills for a lifetime love of the sport.
After graduation, he attended SDSU (Class of ‘66) and USD School of Law (Class of ‘71). After passing the California Bar, he went to work for a national retailer climbing the corporate ladder with moves to Los Angeles, Atlanta, Georgia and Rochester, Michigan. In 1996, he returned to San Diego where he was asked to head the Western Region for a major home improvement chain. He was a former member of the Burnham-Moore Center for Real Estate Policy Advisory Board. He was an avid tennis player, long distance runner-Boston Marathon Finisher in 2014 with son, Brian, swimmer, avid Aztec fan, long suffering Padre fan, and world traveler. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by Treasa, his wife of 50 years, their sons and respective spouses, Brian (Lee) and Kevin (Milly), five lively "Grands:'' Olivia, Chloe, Jack, Toby and Shelby, and his three sisters, Diane Taylor (Steve Reed), Cathy McCarty and Barbara Gauthier (Dale), in addition to 9 nieces and nephews and their children. Mike will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Memorial services will be held at Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church on Saturday June 2, 20118 at 2:00PM.
