Melecio ‘Mel’ Manglicmot Reguindin, age 96, of Chula Vista, California, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. He was born June 14, 1928, in San Felipe, Zambales, Philippines to his parents, Pedro and Dominga Reguindin. Mel, a quiet and fun-loving family man, dedicated 20 years of his life to the US Navy, serving his country with honor. After his military service, he pursued a career in the Civil Service as a Maintenance Supervisor at Balboa US Naval Hospital. Soon after retiring from the US Navy, he graduated from Chula Vista Adult School, where he earned a GED diploma, all while working full time supporting his family. Mel believed strongly in education and fully supported his 3 children in their pursuit of higher education at the universities of their choice. He was also a faithful member of the Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Chula Vista, where he spent many Sunday mornings attending Mass. Mel was a devoted husband to Basilisa ‘Basie’ Reguindin and a loving father to his children—sons Cesar and Henry Reguindin, and daughter Lisa Mel Salas. He was also a cherished brother to his two surviving siblings Domingo Reguindin and Gloria Felaire. He enjoyed hobbies such as fishing, camping, softball and travel. He especially enjoyed travel in his later years where he and Basie would take extensive cruise trips around the world, many times with other friends. Melecio is preceded in death by his siblings Fulgencio, Antonio, Porceso, Nicolas, Jose, Blanca Quillopo, Emperatris Balatico and son Cesar. He led a full and satisfying life, and will be deeply missed by his friends and surviving family members.May Melecio Manglicmot Reguindin rest in peace.
