Our precious mother was born Maria De Jesus Carrillo on October 06, 1952 in Casimiro Castillo Jalisco, Mexico. She sadly passed away on November 26, 2022 at the age of 70 due to complications of cancer. Our beloved mother was literally a beautiful person inside and out. Her energy and love for life were unmeasurable. She was raised in Mexico where she met and married our father, her first husband Enrique Romero. They moved to San Diego, CA in the late 1960's where they began a family. They parented 4 children Diana, Hector, Monica and Ricardo starting in 1972. Our father Enrique passed on November 27, 1988. Our beloved mother met Martin Mendez and remarried in 1990. They moved to Tijuana, Mexico where they resided and lived a happily married life.
Our mother was an exuberant woman full of energy and love. She loved to cook, clean and travel while being waited on in lavish resorts. She also enjoyed and loved the sport of boxing. She was truly proud of her native Mexican fighters especially Julio Cesar Chavez and Canelo Alvarez. But what made her truly happy was music and dancing. She was truly the life of the party. Some of her favorite music artists included Juan Gabriel, Rocio Durcal and Vicente Fernandez. She enjoyed family gatherings and would often travel hours with Martin to visit family. Our beloved mother loved to have her grandchildren spend the weekends and often summer breaks at her house. They would all spend time on the beach, riding horses, going to fairs and laying in the pool staring at the moon and stars at night. She loved to have her grandchildren over and allow them to just be kids. Listening to music, dancing and cooking were big events at moms house. Mom was truly proud to be a wife, mother, mother-in-law, daughter, sister, aunt and especially grandmother. She was also loved and respected by friends and neighbors.
Our family would like to thank everyone's concern, support, blessings, and respect to privacy during our mother’s difficult fight. These were her wishes and we are sure she thanks you as well. She has been called home by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ where she is finally resting free from pain.
Our mother is survived by her husband, Martin, two daughters Diana & Monica, two sons Hector & Ricardo, her son in laws Michael & Rafael, daughter in laws Julie & Danielle, mother Natividad, brothers Efrain, Roberto & Javier and 11 grandchildren Anthony, David, Jake, Makayla, Natalia, Aidan, Ryan, Cassandra, Nathan, Kylie and Jace.
A Reception for Maria will be held Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at The Chapel of Roses. A Funeral Service will be held from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
