Maria Milagros De La Vega Gouyonnet was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Maria will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Maria was born on July 6, 1921, and grew up in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. She was the daughter of Ignacio De La Vega and Josefina Gouyonnet.
Maria enjoyed her college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Maria was able to manage the balancing act. She earned her degree on May 8, 1950.
On February 4, 1947 Maria exchanged wedding vows with Dr. Melesio Urias Sosa in San Luis Pottosi, Mexico of San Luis Pottosi, Mexico. Empathic and loyal, Maria was committed to making her new family happy.
Maria worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Maria was blessed with ten children, five daughters, Margarita, Rosa Elvia, Irma, Maria Milagros and Glenda Leticia, and five sons Miguel, Jose, Luis, Raul and Gabriel. Another blessing for Maria was the gift of twenty-five grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Fortunately, Maria enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Maria worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. Her primary occupation was Obstetric Nurse. She was employed all of her life. Maria always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Maria enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Her favorite pursuits were gardening, reading medical books, politics, Yoga, swimming, cooking, poetry, showing her love to her family by making sure they had a good education, good meals and always being there when they were sick. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Maria passed away on February 18, 2013 at Chula Vista Sharp Hospital due to heart failure. She is survived by her ten children, five daughters, Margarita, Rosa Elvia, Irma, Maria Milagros and Glenda Leticia, and five sons Miguel, Jose, Luis, Raul and Gabriel. Maria also leaves twenty-five grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren to cherish her memory.
Services were held at Glen Abbey Mortuary Chapel in Bonita, California on Sunday, March 3, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Saint Rose of Lima Parish in Chula Vista, California, Monday, March 4, 2013 at 11:00 am. Maria was laid to rest in Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita California.
Simply stated, Maria was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Maria leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Maria Milagros De La Vega Gouyonnet.
