She devoted her life and her love to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by five of her children, sixteen grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. Everyone who carries on her legacy meant the world to her and was shaped by her benevolence. Not only did she raise six children of her own, but she also helped to raise four grandsons. Her adoration for others and her generous heart persuaded her to become an avid foster parent, helping to raise seven more children for several years.
Lupita, as she was known by everyone, was a faithful servant of God. Her favorite book was the Bible— which she read daily; and in her older years for hours on end.
She was a teacher at heart, teaching Sunday school for many years and sharing her love and devotion to the Lord with her family, friends, and anyone who she encountered in resonant and meaningful ways. She also exhibited her love of children and education as a teacher’s aid at a public elementary school, influencing the hearts and minds of lucky students.
Her courage and determination impelled her to purchase three homes in her lifetime, and to own a taxi business to make ends meet. Above all else, she is remembered as relentless, honorable, responsible and very resourceful. There was absolutely nothing she wouldn’t do to provide for her six children as a single parent.
Lupita taught her children and grandchildren the power of courage, strength, and ambition, while also instilling in them the value of love and compassion. She was an example of self-discipline, and emphasized the importance of keeping one’s word; she imparted these sentiments upon us all.
Her golden years were among the brightest! We remember her infectious laughter, witty comments, and her many funny faces. She did it all in the name of sharing her joy with each one of us, and around her we always had a smile on our faces. These are moments we will cherish forever.
She leaves a legacy of faith, tenacity, and sincere love to us all, and she will forever be both honored and missed.
