Jose Elgar Quiñones
He was born on September 19, 1937,
the second of two sons,
the sixth of eight children,
to German and Paula Quiñones
in Nabua, Camarines Sur, Philipines.
He graduated from Nabua High School,
the Class of 1955,
then earned a B.S. in Industrial Education.
He was a teacher of Industrial Arts,
at Santo Domingo Elementary School.
In 1966 he left The Philippines,
to come to San Diego and serve
in the United States Navy.
First a Steward, then a Machinist Mate,
Stationed in New London, Charleston, Pensacola, San Diego.
In 1971 he married Corazon Priela,
batchmate in Nabua High ‘55.
Yokosuka, Japan – his two daughters were born,
then finally San Diego now permanently home,
after some time, his son was born.
He retired after twenty-four years,
Honorably served in the US Navy,
continued work ten years at NASSCO,
until his final retirement,
then a life of leisure between San Diego and Nabua.
He was hardworking and “generous to a fault,”
Supporting member of the Bicol Club of San Diego County,
Former President of the Nabueños of Southern California,
He was always there for family and friend,
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Jose “Joe” Quinones is survived by his loving wife Corazon “Sachong,”
daughter Celeste “Chiqui,” daughter Joyce, son Jose Jr “Joey,”
as well as son-in-law Rufino Flores Jr and three grandchildren,
Rufino III (8yrs), Chloe Joy (7yrs) , and Alejandre Jose “AJ” (2yrs).
