Joe Alfred Alfaro Sr was born on May 12, 1937 to parents Jose R. and Petra Alfaro. He passed away on January 26, 2016. He was born in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico. He moved to San Diego with his parents and siblings in 1949, where he remained for the rest of his life.
While attending Mar Vista High School, Joe and Amelia courted in the 11th grade and got married a year later.
Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years, Amelia Alfaro, and their five children: Sylvia, Jose Jr., Nina, Arthur and Yvonne, 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
His dedication was to his wife and family. His trade was as laborer and carpenter for 45 years. His passion was hunting. He loved to make and share beef jerky with his family that he made from his hunting.
Joe's family also fondly remembers him spending time every morning reading the newspaper, which he'd been doing as long as they can remember. Joe also liked to garden and kept many different trees.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
