James "Bud" Webb

James "Bud" Webb, 86, of Coronado, California, peacefully passed away on July 14, 2024. Born on July 3, 1938, in El Centro, California, Bud was known for his kindness, compassion, and philanthropic spirit. He cherished his family, including his wife and sweetheart, Vonda; daughters Angie Cantrell (Jerry), Karen Kawamoto (Robert), and Shelley Webb Beh (Brock); nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind sister Bonnie Allen and three brothers, Paul, Ron and Don Todd, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Webb, Elma and Paul Todd, siblings Bill Webb, Betty Chambers, and Mary James, and cousin Dick Webb.

Bud served in the Navy from 1958 to 1962, a period during which he dedicated himself to his country and learned disciplines that would benefit him throughout his life. After his military service, Bud transitioned into the defense industry, where he worked from 1962 until 1972. He then pursued entrepreneurship, owning and operating a successful construction business from 1972 until his retirement in 2000. Bud built many homes, apartments, and condos in Imperial Beach. He also donated his time, skills, and funds to build the Imperial Beach Boys and Girls Club gym that was named in his honor.

Beyond his professional career, Bud was a passionate lover of music, the arts, and literature. He enjoyed traveling and was always eager to learn more about the world. A true sports enthusiast, he was a devoted fan of the Padres and San Diego Chargers.

Bud was also a very generous philanthropist. He loved giving back to his community. He was on the board of the Imperial Beach Boys and Girls Club, a longstanding member of the Imperial Beach Kiwanis Club, and built the Imperial Beach Health Center. Bud set up a family foundation that provided scholarships to students at Mar Vista High for over twenty years. He donated to many charities including Sports for Exceptional Athletes, SDSU Guardian Scholars, Doors of Change, and many more.

Bud's legacy of love, generosity, and community involvement will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
