George was a neighbor in Coronado. A great guy!

I worked on George’s home remodeling his kitchen, we had a great relationship. I grew up a Packer fan so we had many conversations about football as we were of about the same age. He was truly a great person. 
We were discussing him at work today as we were going to be working in his complex again and was planning to stop by to say high when a co-worker ran across this obituary.

George was a special, caring, intelligent friend who taught me life lessons on a daily basis. 💗 Thank you for being  part of my life the last few years . 

I knew George from swimming at our community pool in Coronado. We met in 2010 and had a lot of fun together for many years. We worked out most days. 

Once, for his birthday, I took him to Albuquerque for the balloon fiesta. He loved it and meeting my huge family in Santa Fe. 

I know George had a very exciting life playing for the NFL, but I’d like to think that our simple adventures were fun and interesting as well. I sure miss him. 

George and I met at our community pool over 10 years ago and we had great adventures - hiking, running, and balloon fiestas in New Mexico. RIP my friend!

George and I had known each other for over 40 years. I am very blessed to have walked some of life’s journey with this man.  It’s very difficult to wrap my thoughts and heart around he is no longer a phone call away. 
We have shared many meaningful experiences, compared parenting strategies, prayed together and shared our life’s bucket lists. 
George truly loved his sons and was extremely proud of them, especially as fathers, men with integrity and productive members of this world. 
His joy as a grandfather was undeniable and often said to me he couldn’t ask for more in this world. 
My heartfelt condolences are extended to George, David, Danny and those 8 precious grandchildren.  You all made him so proud!

Growing up George was like my big brother in fact he was the first person that ever took me fishing and we caught something called smelt always would come by on Sunday mornings for breakfast with a giant radiant smile I will miss you my friend may you rest in eternal peace. 

My Dad (who passed on 3/31/22) worked with George at Sears' first sporting goods department in Calumet City, IL.  Dad mentioned multiple times about how much he enjoyed working with George. Seeing others stories about him and reading about him, he seems like he was a great guy whom one would enjoy being around.

I’m saddened to hear of George’s passing. George Seals was and is a legend in Missouri. I grew up in a home where football was almost a religion and will always remember meeting him as a little girl with my Dad. I later had the privilege of being a nurse to George’s father,  Mr. Manuel ,who was so proud of all of his children. Such a beautiful family. May all who knew him be comforted knowing he’s resting in the arms of Jesus . 

George and I grew up in Higginsville, MO. George graduated in 1960 from our local high school. I don't live in Higginsville anymore, but loved the little town of 5,000 so that I try to help when they need me. I was on the committee for the 150th anniversary of the founding of the town in 2019 and when we thought of who we could ask to serve as grand marshal for the parade we thought of George. I contacted him and he said he was flattered and delighted and would love to see everyone. We offered to cover his expenses and he said he would hear no more about that - he was in and insisted on covering his travel & lodging. I spent a fair amount of time with him that weekend and he never saw a person he would not give his full attention to. My class of 1959 was having a 60th reunion get together on Saturday evening and when I asked if he wanted to join us he just said - absolutely. He was so glad to see our classmates which included two members of our class that are Missouri Hall of Fame Coaches. They all played together in high school and shared some great stories. 

I know George thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and as it turns out to me it was a home coming for him. It was saying good bye when you don't know you really are saying good-bye. I will always have fond memories of George from our time working together in my family's plant nursery while we were in high school all the way up 'til I said good night after our class reunion. A class guy!

My husband and I had the pleasure meeting George when we would visit my daughter who also lived in the same condo.  It is with our deepest sympathies to hear of his extended illness and passing. When I was in 8th grade at football practice at Higginsville, Mo., where George was on the varsity team, coach didn’t have enough guys to hold blocking dummy’s so he had some of us scrubs hold them. I chose one in the defensive backfield because I wasn’t near as big as the high school varsity players. Well, coach called the play & they hiked the ball and who do you think came out of the backfield to block my dummy. Right! It was George Seals. He knocked me and the dummy so far that even Google couldn’t find us!
That’s a George Seals memory I’ll never forget! I’m 74 now, btw.

My name is Georgia (Wisecup) Redman and Higginsville, MO is  my home town. I had the privilege of reuniting with George at the 60th 1959 class reunion. 
My brother, Pete, played football with George at Higginsville High and as a cheerleader I saw George make many touchdowns, even while pulling the opponents along with him. He was an outstanding player and such a nice person. Rest in peace friend. 

Uncle George, 
My most fondest memory of uncle is the one of him coming to Kansas city to visit the family. We were always excited to see him but this particular time he brought gifts for me and my younger brother Billy. To my shock and surprise it was a gun and holster set for both of us and I truly loved it. 
You will be truly missed my dear uncle!

I have many great memories of my Uncle George. I always thought that he was so cool. I remember visiting his town house in Hyde Park, our visits to Giordano’s for pizza . In my adult years our conversations about business, real estate and life. You truly left your mark on the world and will be missed. 

George grew up in Higginsville, MO and my mother always told the story of how he integrated the public pool. Because he was in the NFL he was adored in the community. When he brought a group of black kids to the pool and paid for their entry, the manager let them in. From that day on the pool was integrated.

George gave a lot to his community and was a kind and thoughtful man. His memory will always be a blessing to Higginsville.

He loved being with his nephews and brothers and they loved being around him.

Our California visit with Uncle George.  He’s pictured with great-nephews and niece.  He had many valuable and priceless items in his home.  I was scared to death that the children would break something. But Uncle George was so patient and calm.  He didn't restrict them from touching anything and answered all their questions.  I will miss him greatly.

When Uncle George was around it was always a special time because we treasured those moments.

My most treasured memory of Uncle George was our visit to California for spring break and spending a special day with him.  He also came and visited us for three wonderful days.  The conversations, the tears we shared, the love I have for him.  We also had a zoom call during my husband’s birthday.  We spent several hours after that just talking, laughing, and again, crying.  We have shared many talks before his death.  All of this I will treasure until we meet again in glory.

My uncle was so special to us.  Our family took a spring break trip to California and we spent a whole day with uncle George.  The memories I have of that day are priceless.  I cannot wait to see you again in glory.

This will never be easy, losing family one by one…but we will forever have the memories.

I share the loss of George as do so many who have known him over the years.  I knew him back in Higginsville High when he made a name for himself playing football contributing to an undefeated season, and was pleased to have had the chance to meet him one last time in 2019 at my 60th class reuntion.  While a great football player, he was also an exceptional human being.

I am deeply moved that George remembered my husband, Joe Kellman, and his work in Chicago. Joe’s  concern for the young people in the North Lawndale community motivated him to create and continue to support  The Better Boys Foundation.

I was a senior at Higginsville High School and George was a freshman in 1956 - 57.  We played sports together, track and football. George was a tall husky athlete.  Lining up across from him as a fullback was all that myself, Buck Wegner and Ben Whited could muster to bring him down.  He was a very good athlete, soft spoken and really smart. As we know he succeeded in his life as a professional football player for the Chicago Bears and after retirement worked on the Chicago Board of Trade. I was privileged to visit George on his last visit to Higginsville.  His passing leaves a hole in my heart as he was one of the good guys. Rest in peace my friend.  Bill Kolas, Higginsville, MO.
