Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Ernest was no exception. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Ernest will be remembered as an exceptional person.
Ernest’s life journey began on January 1, 1924. He was born in Oatman, Arizona but was raised in San Ysidro, California. His parents' were Frank Gonzalez and ErnestineGaerro . He was raised with six siblings Chris, Dave, Doleres, Helen, Ruth and Vina.
Ernest was a typical teenager who had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1941.
Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Ernest experienced that with Maddy Perez and the couple exchanged wedding vows on December 24, 1950. The wedding took place in Yuma, Arizona. Empathic and loyal, Ernest was committed to making his new family happy.
While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Ernest was blessed with four children Linda, Susie, Ernest and Rachel. Ernest worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs, raising his children in a positive and nurturing environment. Later on, Ernest was blessed with the gift six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Ernest enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Ernest worked diligently and did his best to succeed in each of his career as a Lieutenant Commander for the United States Navy. Ernest served the military for over 30 years. He also served in WWII, the Korean and Vietnam War.
A person's hobbies often mirror who they have become. Ernest enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including golf, baseball, daily bridge and crossword puzzle and gardening.
Ernest G. Gonzalez left us on January 22, 2013. He passed away in Chula Vista, California due to Pneumonia. He is survived by his wife Maddy Gonzalez, his daughters Linda, Susie and Rachel and son, Ernie and his six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A Funeral Service was held at The Little Chapel of the Roses on Monday, January 28, 2013. Ernest G. Gonzalez was laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
So this is Ernest’s life, the sum of the man that he became. Simply stated, Ernest was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Ernest leaves behind him a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Ernest G. Gonzalez touched will always remember him with a smile.
