Erlinda Balasta Conda, affectionately known as Linda, was born on December 10, 1936 in Manila, Philippines to Fabian and Beatriz Balasta. Linda attended high school at Saint Mary’s Academy in Pasay City, Philippines, graduating in 1954. She attended college at University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines, graduating in 1958 with a B.A. in Journalism.
Linda married Nestor Malagueño Conda on September 21, 1963 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Quezon City, Philippines. They are blessed with four children – Kimberly, Mark, Nelin, and James and seven grandchildren – Ronnel, Ryan, Kayla, Cameron, Phoebe, Matthew, and Brandon.
Linda was a devout Catholic her entire life. She was a member of many sodalities, including Sacred Heart, Holy Rosary, and Divine Mercy. She was an active member at her parish,
St. Michael Catholic Church – being a Eucharistic minister, music minister, member of Parish Council, Filipino Community of St. Michael (FCSM), Filipino Cursillo, and was the editor of the former parish newsletter, known as the Echo. When her children attended St. Michael Academy, she was very involved, being a member of the PTG and eager volunteer.
Her number one love in life was taking care of her children and grandchildren. So much so that in earlier years, she took care of many of her children’s friends. So many knew her as “Mom”. And she loved to cook for everyone. She always put others before herself.
Linda’s faith gave her much strength in her later years to endure much pain and suffering resulting from her diabetes. To many she was a living miracle.
Aside from her spouse, children, and grandchildren, Linda is survived by her siblings Rafael, Nelda, Virginia, and Juanita, her sons in law, Poten and Ronie, and her daughter in law, Beatriz.
We love and miss you, Mama!
