Donald "Don" Chester Shaw was born on November 3, 1926 in St. Joseph, Michigan to his parents, Edward and Elsie.
He was the third of four athletic boys who enjoyed football, baseball and basketball. Don moved with his family to San Diego in 1944 where he met the love of his life, Alice, five years later. They married shortly after they began dating and had two children, Donald Jr. "Timmy" and Stephanie, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Don worked in the produce department of several local grocery stores, including Fedmart, for many years before retiring at the early age of 55. He and Alice spent their time hosting Sunday dinner for the family, taking their children and grandchildren on annual trips to Disneyland, watching baseball games, traveling to Las Vegas, St, Joseph, Michigan and exploring Ghost Towns.
Don and Alice were truly best friends and held hands every day until Alice passed away in 2010. Don spent the last years of his life enjoying his grandchildren and great grandchildren and appreciating the beautiful life he had lived.
He passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on September 8, 2016. His family takes comfort in knowing he is in heaven reunited with his wife and daughter.
