Dagmawit Yilma Audain (Dee/Nani/Dagi/Dagim) was born on July 6, 1983 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to her loving parents; Ato Yilma Kinfe and Amarech Erko Yadate. Dagmawit completed her elementary and secondary school in Ethiopia. She received her undergraduate in Healthcare Management from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale and her graduate degree in Management Information System from National University, San Diego, CA.
Prior to relocating to the United States, Dagim accepted a job offer to serve as a flight attendant at Gulf Air in Bahrain. She enjoyed exploring new cities and learning about different cultures. During her tenure with the airline, Nani was fortunate to meet her soul mate (Sean Audain) in Bahrain in 2007; soon after arriving. Their love blossomed quickly and she found herself moving to the United States not long after.
Dagmawit is known for being considerate, selfless, ambitious and caring. Her family and close friends occupied her closest secrets and Sean was entrusted in helping her achieve self-actualization – her true self.
In America, Dagi realized her dreams in her occupational and personal life while being recognized as a hard worker and loving dedicated wife. She believed that her determination to succeed would help her get through any obstacle, and it did! Soon after relocating to San Diego, CA; she completed her undergrad and graduate degree, relocated her entire immediate family, had the wedding of her dreams and became the proud mother of a beautiful baby boy – Ethan.
Dagmawit loved spending time with her family, husband and had a passion for giving back to the underprivileged. She was recalled home to join her Almighty God on January 4th, 2019 after battling an aggressive manifestation of gastric cancer.
She was a loving wife, a caring mother, a beloved sister, a cherished friend and a trusted colleague. Dagmawit is survived by her parents Yilma and Amarech, her sister Hilina, her brother Kidus, her brother-in-law Abel, her loving husband; Sean and their baby boy - Ethan.
Absent from the body, present with the lord and forever in our hearts; Dee’s legacy will be one influenced by love and tenderness. Her body which was her vessel here on this plane may have left us, but her spirit will forever remain with us even as she transcends to her rightful place with the angels. Mourn her loss, but celebrate her life by being the better version of yourself, make your core ethos to be love. Love of God, family, humanity, country and self. Love; love hard with reckless abandon, commit to making this world a better place and her footprints will forever be embedded alongside us.
