Cielo Villaflor Delgado was a loving wife, mother, Lola, sister, friend and devoted follower of Jesus. She left this world on June 5, 2021 at age 73 in the presence of family at her home in Chula Vista. Her indomitable spirit, infectious laughter, and beautiful smile endured through a protracted battle with cancer.
She was born to Macario and Loreto Villaflor in 1948 on January 16 or 29 (depending on the story). After several years of teaching grade school, she left her neighborhood of Tandaay Nabua in Camarines Sur, Philippines, to immigrate to the United States in pursuit of the "American Dream”. When she met Crescente Ymas Delgado, it was love at first sight…at least that’s what he says. Together, they had four children: Christina, Cynthia, Crescente, Jr. and Clarissa.
Cielo loved spending time with her family and friends all the while talking, laughing and singing. The overflow of her walk with the Lord made her a socialite, holding court wherever she went in pursuit of a genuine connection with every person she met. Her house was a revolving door of love always equipped with food and gifts to go!
She is survived by her husband, four children and seven grandchildren: Cielo (Jr.), Giovanni, Myla, Caitlyn, Nico, Lucas and Micah.
“Dear Lord God, thank you for everything. Keep me close to You and please keep my family in your heart.”
- Cielo Delgado (April 21, 2021 prayer in her journal)
