In her younger years as wife to Justo who was then the Personal Secretary to the British governor of North Borneo ( now called Sabah, Malaysia ), she got to meet and to shake hands with Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II of England as well as the Duchess of Kent. Also, flanked by the the governor of Ilocos Sur and the mayor of Vigan, she was by Justo’s side when the British Ambassador ( who flew all the way here ) to pin the Meritorious Service medal from the Queen of England for his more than 30 years of distinguished service.
Catalina’s ultimate goal in life was being a devoted wife and devoted mother- so devoted and caring was she, till her final breath in life.
She loved gardening and had green thumb. She loved sewing dresses for her little girls. She tirelessly loved cooking for her loved ones. She was so patient and never complained. She was so generous – with what little she had, she will still give to you – forgetting her own needs. She will always put other s first before herself.
Together with Papa, she brought us up eight children - disciplined, fair and equal.
Mommy, you may not be wealthy – but you have a wealth of love, patience, understanding and generosity. You are our model and will always be forever!
God has a mission for each one of us on earth and Mommy had accomplished hers.
God has another mission for her Up There in order to prepare for our smooth coming when the time comes.
We have 3 special guardian angels – Papa, John and now , you, Mommy.
Till we meet again, Mei. The chain is broken but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again – and we will all be together again.
We all love you very much and you will always be in our hearts forever.
See you in Heaven, Mei!
