Bernardo L. Valdez was born on October 30, 1936 to Mariano Valdez and Felomina Lagmay in Alaminos, Pangasinan. He was raised in the Philippines with four siblings, Avelina, Esmeralda, Armando and Benidecto.
Bernardo graduated from high school in the Philippines and later continued his education by attending college where he earned an Associates degree.
At a young age, Bernardo met and fell in love with his sweetheart, Estrella. The couple happily exchanged wedding vows in Quezon, Philippines. Bernardo and Estrella were blessed with six children, Kathleen, Elsa, Marites, Teodoro, Roel and Vilma. Later in life they received the joy of twelve grandchildren.
Fortunately, Bernardo enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, he worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. Bernardo enlisted in The United States Navy and retired after 20 years of service as an E-6.
Bernardo enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various activities including cooking, fishing, watching football games and his favorite programs on Animal Planet and The National Geographic Channel. He was always happy and willing to share his interests with others.
Bernardo left us on December 31, 2011 at the age of 75. He passed away in San Diego, California. He is survived by his loving children Kathleen Nuñez, Elsa Carbonel, Marites Valdez, Teodoro Valdez, Roel Valdez, Vilma Becerral and their families. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A Funeral Service was held at the Glen Abbey Mortuary Chapel on January 6, 2012. Bernardo L. Valdez was later laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
