Ben Felipe Nery was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Ben will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
He was the son of Gavina Felipe and Ambrocio Nery. Ben grew up in Phillipines. He had a younger bother, Rafael Nery. Ben was involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings, and shared many life experiences over the years.
On December 6, 1953 Ben exchanged wedding vows with Virginia De Jesus at Phillipine Independent Church of Phillipines. Empathic and loyal, Ben was committed to making his new family happy.
Ben worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Ben was blessed with three children, three sons Jesse, Eugene, and Greg.
Fortunately, Ben enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Ben worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career; The United States Navy First Class Retired and The United States Civil Service. He was employed for twenty two years by The United States Navy and thirty five years by The United States Civil Service. Ben always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.
Ben was a Navy veteran. Through his hard work, he achieved the rank of First Class. His fellow soldiers viewed him as a brother in arms and knew that he was as much a part of their family as their loved ones back home.
Ben enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were gardening, playing cards, playing Mah Jong, cooking,and craftsman. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
Ben’s faith was important to him. He was a member the Catholic Church.
Ben passed away on July 9, 2012 in San Diego, California from heart failure. He is survived by His wife Virginia; his sons Jesse, Eugene, and Gregory; his grandchildren Anisha, Jay-R, Neryssa, Greg Junior, and Robert; and his daughter in-law Priscilla. Services were held at Glen Abbey Mortuary Chapel. Ben was laid to rest in Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, California.
Simply stated, Ben was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Ben leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Ben Felipe Nery.
