The Girl from National City,
Barbara grew up in National City, California as a “Marine Brat.“ Her father was a career Marine, as were her two brothers. The three Price children were reared by a loving mother in military housing where Barbara developed a focus on life. This focus took Barbara from a street “tomboy” to a person who always stepped up to the plate to provide for her family and improve her station in life. Barbara started with being a car sales accountant and working with her family at Marshall Scotty’s in Lakeside every summer. Through time she graduated to walking the halls of the State Capitol in Sacramento as a respected Legislative administrator, California State School Board Member and lobbyist. She used her intelligence, administrative talents, and people skills to improve the lives of not only those in the South Bay area, but in San Diego and throughout the entire State. From prisons to parks, schools and community improvement projects, Barbara was there to help at a multitude of levels for over 60 years.
Barbara married Don (Doc) Hunsaker in 1986 and for the next 30 years the two became a loving couple dedicated to each other along with family, friends, colleagues and students. Doc and Barb travelled the world together making long term friends wherever they went. Even becoming Dame Barbara and Sir Doc in the Order of Saint Stanislaus.
Barbara is lovingly remembered by seven children (one deceased), eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nephews and nieces and Cliff the Wonder Dog.
We all love you Barbara.
