Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Armando Salcedo Dacanay was no exception. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Armando will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Armando’s life journey began on June 7th, 1933. He first greeted the world in Manila, Philippines. His parents' names were Antonino Romero Dacanay and Adela Castilla Salcedo Dacanay. Armando was raised in Manila with eleven siblings. He had eight brothers, Godofroedo, Rolando, Alfonso, Jose, Jesus, Antonio, Arturo and Raphael, and three sisters Aurora, Andrea and Estrella. Armando was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings sharing many life experiences over the years.
In 1962, Armando made the life changing decision of moving from Manila, Philippines to New York City in the United States. There he would shape his new life which was to come.
Falling in love is a huge milestone for any person. Just knowing that you have met that special someone is a magical feeling. Armando experienced that with Araceli Fuerte Ocampo. The couple exchanged wedding vows on January 27th, 1968. The wedding took place in St. Ignacious Loyola Church in New York City.
In 1972, both Armando and Araceli moved from New York City across the United States to San Diego, California.
Empathic and loyal, Armando was committed to making his new family happy. Armando was blessed with one son, Armand Dacanay. Armando worked hard to be a good father raising his son in a positive and nurturing environment, doing his best to fulfill his needs.
Later in life, Armando was blessed with the joy of three grandchildren, Carla Dacanay, Aidan Dacanay and Kate Dacanay.
Fortunately, Armando enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Armando worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career. He was a Field Marketing Director for Allianz Life Insurance Company for 25 years.
Armando Dacanay left us on April 16th, 2011 at 3:00 in the morning. He passed away at the San Diego Hospice Center in San Diego, California. He was 77 years old. The cause of his death was due to complications from diabetes and kidneys. He is survived by his wife Araceli Fuerte Dacanay and his son Armand Ray Dacanay. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary and Memorial Park at The Little Chapel of the Roses on Friday, April 29th, 2011. Armando was laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
Simply stated, Armando was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Armando leaves behind him a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Armando Salcedo Dacanay touched will always remember him with a smile.
