Anthony “Tony” David Olivas was born November 7, 1962 to Judith and Robert Olivas. He was the middle child with older sister Christina “Tina” and younger brother David. He grew up in Chula Vista his whole life, attending Vista Square elementary, Chula Vista Middle and High Schools. In his youth he was a Boy Scout, and played baseball and football. He attended Southwestern College and San Diego State University, but completed his degree of BS in Business Accounting from University of Phoenix in 2002. He worked at 7-Eleven and Woo Chee Chong’s grocery in Chula Vista. He later transitioned to working at Arise scaffolding company, Aqua Lung scuba diving gear, Scantibodies Laboratories, and Regulus Therapeutics. He returned to Aqua Lung and held the position as Financial Controller.
Tony met his wife, Marissa, while working at Woo Chee Chong’s grocery and the two were married on April 6, 1991. Tony and Marissa have two children, Amanda and Michael. Tony loved watching his kid’s sporting events and fully supported their academic endeavors. Tony also enjoyed golfing, barbecuing, watching baseball and football, and doing home improvements. His favorite TV show was Big Bang Theory, favorite animal was turtles, and favorite song was Smile by Uncle Kracker. To all that knew him, Tony was selfless, hardworking and funny.
Tony is survived by his wife Marissa, children Amanda and Michael, and siblings Tina and David.
