Angela was described by her schoolteacher as a “silent water that runs deep.” That’s because she usually exhibits a quiet and mild disposition. She grew up in a small village where her parent’s owned a farming homestead. She was born at a time when education is not encouraged for young girls. Fortunately, her father recognized the importance of education so he arranged for her to attend elementary school even though it required her to leave home to board with relatives in a town far away. Possessed of a bright intellect, she graduated as class valedictorian in 7th grade. For her high school studies, she was sent to Tuguegarao, the provincial capital of Cagayan. It was the only place in the province where a high school exists. In her sophomore year, World War II broke out. After the war, she obtained her Elementary Teacher’s Certificate from Centro Escolar University. She eventually finished her Bachelor of Science in Education by attending summer classes at National Teachers College in Manila. On June 3, 1948 she married Isaias Aguinaldo and they settled in Nabannagan where they started a family.
Angela worked as a Grade 3 teacher in Nabannagan Community School. Later on, her family moved to Quezon City. She taught Grade 1 pupils in Damayan Elementary School where she completed her 35 years of teaching. When her family moved to the United States, she spent her retirement years babysitting her grandchildren.
While she lived in San Diego, she started studying the bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses, and she was baptized in 1997. She participated in all aspects of the ministry which continued during the COVID pandemic. She wrote countless encouraging letters to her fellow senior citizens.
Angela is survived by her brother Juanito, her four children, Ysmael, Michael, Olivia and Isaias Jr. She leaves happy memories to her seven grandchildren, Kristen, Mya, Rhoda, Michael Jr, Angelica, Paolo and Andrew. She also has six great-grandchildren, Hannah Lynn, Isaiah Jax, Jacob Renz, Keahlani Caylin, Kainen Chris and Kyrie Mae.
Her correct year of birth is 1924 but due to late registration, it was recorded as 1925. She lived 100 years, after a long and satisfying life.
