Alfred Rodriguez

A Native of San Diego, Alfred graduated San Diego High School in 1951. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force.

He served 4 years (2 years in Korea) and was honorably discharged. He then attended San Diego City College and graduated with an associate degree in electronic engineering.

Alfred met the love of his life Charlene and they were married in 1957. They had three wonderful children together Chris, Charlie, and John. He then began his career as a civil servant at North Island Naval Air Station. He retired from federal service in 1993. Soon after he started working for the San Diego Police Department directing traffic for special events.

He will always be remembered for his love of baseball, family and the Air Force. He liked going to Padres games, air shows and watching his grandkids

He laid his beautiful wife Charlene to rest in 2002 after 45 years of marriage.

Alfred had a tremendous impact on the San Diego community working as a San Diego Police Traffic Enforcement Officer, volunteering to coach little league baseball in his spare time.

He remarried Susana Nowotny in 2008 and helped love and support his adopted son Carlos.

Alfred, the most devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather is survived by his wife Susana, sons John, Charlie and Carlos; daughter Chris; and grandsons Danny, Robert, Paul, Joey and Joshua . Granddaughters Sarah and Anne. He will be laid to rest with his wife Charlene.

A visitation for Alfred will be held Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Glen Abbey's Chapel of the Roses, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 23, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Glen Abbey's Magnolia Room, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902. A committal service will occur Friday, June 23, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA 91902.
