Mr. Jenkins was born in Richmond, Virginia on September 1, 1942 and was the son of the late Clyde and Sybil Wright Jenkins. He graduated from Warwick High School in Newport News, Virginia in 1960. He then attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and graduated in 1964. While at VPI, he was a member of the Sash and Sabor Society where he served as the President; Omicron Delta Kappa where he served as Treasurer; Who’s Who in America Universities and Colleges; The German Club and Monogram Club. He was a left-handed pitcher on the baseball team at VPI and held the lowest ERA at .49 in the school’s history and that record still stands to this day. He was selected as an All-Star Player with the National Baseball Congress of America. Mr. Jenkins was also a member of the Corp of Cadets at VPI where he was 1st Lieutenant. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, U.S. Army Reserves and U.S. Navy Reserves within the Intelligence Division. During his professional career, he worked as a Trust Officer with several banks and lastly with The Trust Company of Virginia in Richmond at the time of his retirement.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 27 ½ years, Denise DeMaria Jenkins; his three children, Jeffrey Jenkins of Ferguson, Mo., Lisa Woods (Brett) of Ashland, Va. and Shana Jenkins (Carlos Romero) of Glenn Allen, Va.; a brother, Mike Jenkins (Tanya) of High Point, NC; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In accordance with Mr. Jenkins wishes no service will be held.
