Robert Harold Norris

Heaven gained another Angel Warrior. On May 13, 2024, Robert Harold Norris lost his fight with Lewy Body Dementia. He died with his spouse, Janice, by his side from the beginning to the end in Shallotte, North Carolina. He was only 65 years old. Robert was strong and fought until his last breath. Though the family is saddened beyond words, we know he is where he belongs now. Robert, like many family and friends, is with God and is no longer suffering.

Robert Harold Norris was born on January 14, 1959, in Ponce, Puerto Rico to Reginald and Peggie Norris. Puerto Rico is a place that always had his heart.

Robert is survived by his dedicated spouse of over 42 years, Janice Lee Shotwell Norris and their four children: Christina Lee Norris Rodrigues, Matthew Robert Norris, Jacob Taylor Norris and Emily Fae Norris. Also his three sisters: Amy Norris, Jill Norris, Louise Marie Norris Davies and all of their children.

He also leaves behind four grandchildren. Robert's son Matthew and his spouse Emily Caroline Norris's children: Austin Robert Norris, Logan James Norris and MacKenzie Kuehne. Robert's eldest daughter Christina and her spouse Miguel Rodrigues's daughter: Aila Raven Rodrigues. He loved his grandchildren with all his heart. He was a fun and playful grandfather who made all the children smile when he was around.

Robert leaves behind many other friends and family, too vast to count! He was loved by all who met him.

Robert graduated high school in Puerto Rico in 1978. After completing a year of college, Robert moved to Northern Virginia. There he met his spouse, Janice Norris, while selling insurance during the day and working at a fast food chain at night. Janice was working for the government during the day and at the same fast food restaurant at night. They married June 27th,1981 and had their first child in 1982. They went on to have three more children in Northern Virginia. Robert was an extremely hard working person and instilled that in his children as well. He had many jobs in his adult life. His jobs ranged from apartment maintenance in the complex where he and his spouse shared their first apartment together, to a career in construction where he became a superintendent. He left construction and spent over 30 years in automotive sales and automotive sales management. Every job he had, no matter how long the hours, he gave it his all. He always took care of his family.

Robert was the type of person who could own any room he walked into. He told the best stories and had a knack for making people laugh. His smile was everything. He loved to go fishing with his children while they were growing up, and we have many fond memories. He also adored the beach. He enjoyed all genres of music but specifically loved Salsa. He loved to dance and sing karaoke. He enjoyed cooking and eating any kind of Spanish food. He also really enjoyed going to the gun range with family. His personality was infectious. He was strong willed and stubborn, traits that did not define him, but were a part of who he was. But to know him, was to love him.

What Robert went through these last few years with the disease, was a testament to his courage and bravery. Even when he was suffering, he wanted to know how others were doing. He wanted to protect and love his spouse and family. We know he is now on a journey that we cannot see, but he is watching over all of us without suffering and pain free.

Death is not the end for him, but instead a path he walks without us until we meet again.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA). Lewy Body Dementia is one of the most under diagnosed forms of dementia. This nonprofit is dedicated to bringing awareness and support to LBD. Our family hopes that people can be diagnosed earlier and treated more effectively, so that they can live fuller lives and not endure the level of suffering that Robert endured.

The family is currently making plans for a Celebration of Life for Robert. Details will be shared soon. We thank everyone for their continued support and love.
