Polly was born in Yadkin County, NC, on the thirty-first of October, 1934, to the late Santford Clayton Vanhoy
and Stella Brown Vanhoy. She was retired from AT&T after 29 years and was a member of the Telephone
Pioneers of America. Polly was a volunteer with the Ronald McDonald House of Charleston before moving to
Winnabow, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Chandler Reid
Fehrmann and Paul Yankowski, four brothers and four sisters.
Surviving are her children Deborah Cowan of Gibsonville, NC, Paula Henderson and husband John of Ellijay,
GA, Mark Cowan and wife Ellen of Mebane, NC, Ann Fehrmann of Silverthorne, CO; a sister, Blanche
Bovender of Leland, NC; grandchildren, Briana Markos and husband Bill, Jack Cowan, Douglas Fehrmann and
wife Kandis, Courtney Brambley and husband Corey, Catherine Fehrmann; great grandchildren, Logan
Anderson, Athena Markos, Chandler Fehrmann, Sawyer Brambley, Tristan Yankowski and a
granddaughter-in-law, Ryss Yankowski.
A celebration of Polly’s life will be held at a later date.
