Mike was born in New Bern, NC on the fourth of April 1954 and was the son of the late Channing Fredrick and Amy Leora Nichols Sapp. He attended Appalachian State University, earning his BA degree. He was then employed as the Keenan Auditorium Director in Columbia, SC, he was also the owner of Stage Design Associates/M2 Productions. Mike was a very talented freelance Lighting, Sound and set designer and was a drama teacher at A.C. Flora High School In Columbia, SC. He also directed the internationally acclaimed show, PAPA, The Man, The Myth, The Legend. For the last twenty five years, Mike saw the construction of the Brunswick Community College Odell Williamson Auditorium and was the current Auditorium Director.
Surviving are his wife of thirty years, Candy Wrenn Sapp; a son, Michael Sapp and significant other, Kirstan Blender of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Amy Leighton and husband Kyle of Leland, NC and his two grand-pups, Echo and Sierra.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at three o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday the twenty seventh of May 2018 in the BCC Odell Williamson Auditorium with The Reverend Brad Ferguson officiating. The family requests that everyone who wishes to please come in casual clothing.
