Marion "Bud" Nelson

Mr. Marion “Bud” Nelson, aged 66, of Leland went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 27, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Nelson was born in New Hanover County on June 5, 1951 and was the son of the late Marion Edward Nelson and Winnie Mae Ganey Nelson. He was also preceded in death by a very special niece, Crystal Sellers Miles, two very dear nephews, Jesse D. Mason and Freddie Lee Lewis, and also many aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Lewis Nelson, sons, Michael Lewis and wife Megan of Leland, Marion W Nelson and wife Tammy of Leland; a daughter, Wendy Nelson Briley and husband Tom of Leland; his grandchildren, Lexis Lewis, Shane Lewis, Clint Phillips, Kelly Nelson, Ethan Nelson, Logan Sharon, Destinne Nelson, Mackenzie Webb, Madison Webb, Gavin Briley and a great-granddaughter, Amelia Powell; a very special companion, PeeWee; his sister, Cathy Ann Sellers and husband Ronnie.

Bud was a very loving and devoted husband, daddy, and grandfather who will be missed dearly. He was a member of Grassy Branch Hunting Club where he was known as the “medicine man”. He worked many years at Babcock & Wilcox and Dupont. Bud was a very humble person who never met a stranger. He was a passionate outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. He was a member of Elah Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at one o’clock in the afternoon at Elah Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Long officiating. Burial will follow in the King Memorial Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Lewis, Weaser Nelson, Steven West, Tom Briley, Buddy Benton and Tom Foushee. Honorary pallbearers will be Jr. Mayhew, Jeremy Lawrence and members of the Grassy Branch Hunting Club.

Friends are invited to a time of visitation with the family on Tuesday evening January 30 from six o’clock until eight o’clock at White Funeral Service, 603 Ocean Highway, Bolivia.
