Mr. Bernard was born in Brunswick County on May 29, 1941 and was the son of the late Claude and Mamie Hardy Bernard. He was a retired truck driver.
He is survived by two sons, Lantice Bernard of Winnabow, Michael Bernard of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters, Princess Gardner and husband Emanuel of Missouri, Texas, Jane Bernard State and husband Simon of Louisville, Georgia and a host of other children to whom looked up to him like a dad.
Friends are invited to a time of visitation and catered reception with the family on Saturday November 3, 2018 from twelve noon until six o'clock in the evening at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 603 Ocean Highway, East, Bolivia, NC.
Funeral services will be held Thursday November 8, 2018 at St. James Missionary Baptist Church located at 2065 Midway Rd., Bolivia, NC. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Wilmington.
